In this episode of Talking People, Emma Djemil, Founder, Be Unstoppable, Kirsty Baggs-Morgan, Founder, Ethica HR and Simon Noble, CEO, Cezanne HR all gave the their views on The Good That HR Does. The session was held at a point when many HR departments and professionals have dealt with a great deal both internally and externally for the organisations they serve.
From coping with the pandemic to delivering health and wellbeing initiatives, there was a general consensus that the profession still does not receive the recognition it should, with the job itself being sometimes stressful and HR professionals suffering burnout as much as success.
HR can do good but it is frequently seen only as a reactive function, or one which is required to carry out the more administrative heavy work required by the organisation. The panel agreed that technology can take away some of the drudgery of the function, enabling HR professionals to contribute more positively and strategically to the organisation. There was also recognition that HR professionals do have a role at the top of businesses, not least because every organisation’s success is dependent on its people.
