Health and Wellbeing: Making it Personal

This is a particularly exciting time for health and wellbeing provision in the workplace. The multigenerational workforce, advances in technology, the ability to offer an ever-increasing roster of initiatives and the need to measure effectiveness are all coming together to give HR the tools it needs to create an effective health and wellbeing package for all employees.

In this month’s webinar from The HR World, Health and Wellbeing – Making it Personal, panelists Mike Hesch, Head of UK Employee Benefits at webinar sponsor Engage Health Group and Gemma Lee, Chief People Officer for Konica Minolta gave their view on the current and future creation and delivery of health and wellbeing schemes. The overall message was that organisations now have the opportunity to offer their workforces a wide range of benefits and support that reflects their age, preferences and life challenges.

Health and wellbeing initiatives not only extend across a vast range of subjects, but today the support can come in the form of education rather than a more experienced benefit. As Gemma Lee noted, even an education session about the menopause can deepen understanding ultimately resulting in better performance from employees.

One over-riding learning point which emerged from the session was to ensure employees understand precisely what they have access to in terms of health and wellbeing. Mike Hesch said Hesch made the point that sometimes HR itself isn’t aware of all the benefits and advantages that come with some of the larger all-employee packages – access to a virtual GP bundled with life assurance, for example. Likewise communication of benefits must also reflect the working patterns and communication preferences of the entire workforce, ensuring everyone knows what they are entitled to and therefore driving the best value and impact from each benefit offered.

The webinar is well worth a view – not least because employees can find it challenging to return to work from after the festivities of the turn of the year. If you want to make sure you’re up to date and competitive with the benefits you’re offering, and that you’re getting the most from this part of your reward package, watch the webinar through our on-demand service.
