Providing seasonal support, ideas and inspiration, The HR World’s webinar, Streamlining Year-End HR Operations, covered the challenges and opportunities presented to HR professionals at this time of year.
Host, Simon Kent was joined by Peter Hall, Head of Customer Success at webinar sponsors Cezanne HR, and by Kate Palmer, HR Advice & Consultancy Director at Peninsula UK.
While preparation for Christmas and New Year celebrations may be underway, the webinar explored how this was also an opportune time for HR to review its current procedures, challenge itself over the systems and approaches it used across the HR function and to pave the way to a bright and more efficient 2024.
One of the most important messages sent out by the panellist was for HR not to try and do too much at once. Peter Hall was clear that incremental change, and change that has clear and targeted benefits, was the best approach at this time. Yes, it’s a good time to try out new ideas– and indeed many HRIS projects hit specific milestones at this time – but it’s also best to keep change initiatives manageable and understood by all.
Both panellists explained that this was a challenging time for HR in general – Palmer highlighting multiple employment law matters to consider in 2024 – but they also made clear HR needs to be able to give itself a break as well to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of the past year. They also need to be able to seriously address current processes that may not be performing as well as expected.
With so many challenges and issues for HR to deal with on a day to day basis this is a particularly good time for HR to take some time to find ways to make life easier and reinforce strategic ideas. The webinar was full of great ideas, initiatives and practical approaches for HR to do just that.
